farmers market saturday

The true sign that fall is here? The Trout Lake Farmers Market shuts down for another season.

Check out this massive golden beet I found! Lots of apples around, some late-season tomatoes, beets, and piles upon piles of squash were to be had. With Halloween a week away, the sweet smell of pumpkin pie should be filling the air.

I picked up some more squash to play around with. Not quite sure yet what I'll do with them. Also got some gorgeous chanterelles to saute (butter + wine + mushrooms = happy happy), small heirloom tomatoes, and some onions to roast and stuff.

Until next summer when we'll once again feel the loving caress of the sun's warm rays on our cheeks, Vancouver can rejoice that we still have the Winter's Market starting up. That will be taking place at the Nat Bailey Stadium parking lot every Saturday starting November 6. We also have the Baker's Market in South Van every Saturday until December 11 for the sweet-tooths.

Bring it on winter! We're ready for ya!
